Hay Fever and Allergies

For some, the spring is a time of rebirth--of flowers, Easter egg hunts, and bright dresses. For others, it's a sentence of sneezing. Spring can be one of the worst seasons for allergy sufferers, especially for those who react poorly to pollen in the air. Although April is the allergy-sensitive month for many, allergy sufferers can begin sneezing earlier or later depending on winter weather conditions. Of course, allergies, also called hay fever, can affect others in the fall and summer when grass and weeds tickle some noses. Wind-pollinated plants generally cause hay fever, although the degree of disruption will vary from region to region.

Although you can easily confuse hay fever with other conditions, such as a cold, you should visit your doctor when you have been experiencing symptoms that seem to have lingered too long to be the effects of the common cold. When your symptoms start to interfere with you life, you know it's definitely time to go. The doctor can help alleviate your symptoms by prescribing you medication, making life better for you in all seasons. In addition, if you don't visit the doctor, then you could experience an infection of the sinuses or continue to suffer from more severe conditions, like asthma or eczema. Because of this, getting to the doctor as soon as you've ruled out a cold is the best policy. While sneezing may be rough, there is relief!
