Snoring and Sleeping Problems
There are millions of people who suffer nightly from snoring and sleeping problems. These disorders are very common and can result in medical treatment or therapy. Most people snore due to a lack of oxygen entering the nasal passages. This occurs from pre-existing medical conditions such as deviated septums, nasal blockage, or respiratory problems. These conditions obstruct air movement and can cause irregularities in normal breathing while one is asleep. The result is snoring and it tends to worsen as a person ages. It can also lead to several ailments if not treated, including stroke, heart attack, and atherosclerosis. There are several ways a person can counter snoring if the condition poses a serious threat. From weight control and medical instruments to surgery and natural remedies, a sufferer can alleviate snoring by these methods and return to a peaceful night of sleep in no time.
Snoring is a common problem experienced by many. While we sleep, the muscles in our body relax, including those in and around the throat.
As we breathe, air flows past tissues in the nose and throat, causing them to vibrate. The sound of this vibration is what we refer to as snoring. In its earliest stages, snoring may only cause minimal disruption to sleep. Chronic snoring can interrupt, and reduce the quality of sleep for someone, as well as those around them.
People who sleep next to a chronic snorer can lose on average one hour of sleep each night. Losing sleep can cause irritability, high blood pressure, difficulty concentrating and fatigue, which can be extremely dangerous while driving or operating machinery. Many couples cope with snoring by sleeping in separate rooms. This often puts strain on a relationship, and contributes to a loss of intimacy.
Many suffer from sleeping problems as well including apnea, which is a direct symptom of snoring. There are several factors that lead to sleep loss such as stress, respiratory infections, lifestyle, and diet. Like snoring, treatments are readily available to tackle sleeping problems with precision and desired results. Such people can participate in sleep studies to determine the cause of the sleep loss, and then take preventive measures recommended by medical professionals to rectify the situation.
