November 18th, 2010 is Great American Smokeout Day, which can be the first day of a life without tobacco use. This year, the American Cancer Society, along with ENT & Allergy Associates, challenges you to help the cause and get the word out to students about not using tobacco.
Why should I get fired up about getting others to quit smoking?
• More than 400,000 people die every year from smoking-related diseases. That’s more than alcohol, illegal drugs, fires, murders, suicide, DWI accidents, car accidents, and AIDS combined.
• Out of 545,000 kids who become new, regular, daily smokers each year, almost a third will die from it.
What is the print advertisement contest?
Express yourself! Create a one sided, 8.5’’x11’’ print ad about the dangers of smoking or inspiration for quitting smoking. We want to see creativity that will help convince cigarette smokers they would be healthier without them. You can draw, paint, use computer graphics and much more to let your best talents shine through!
How can I participate?
• Create a one sided ad that will fit within an 8.5’’x11’’ inch sheet of paper with whatever content you choose to create.
• The format of the advertisement should be a flat, 8.5’’x11’’ sheet of paper, or an electronic file (.pdf, .jpeg, .bmp, .tiff, .doc) which your school administrator can submit via e-mail, CD, or USB drive no later than February 1st, 2011. Have your school administrator submit the school’s winning ad along with the entry form.
The winning entry will win $1,000 in prize money for themselves and $1,000 for your school!
How does my school administrator submit the school’s winning print ad?
The school’s winning 8.5’’x11’’ print advertisement and entry form should be submitted to Nicole Johnson via e-mail (njohnson@entandallergy.com) or mail (666 Lexington Ave, Suite 204, Mount Kisco, NY 10549).
