Dr. Lorraine C. Rein began practicing Audiology in 1979. She received both her Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from Hofstra University. In 2007 she earned her Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) from the Arizona School of Health Sciences at A.T. Still University.
Dr. Rein has worked in a variety of settings over the years. She began her career providing Audiology services in an ENT practice. She moved on to the Hearing and Speech Clinic at Queens General Hospital in Jamaica, NY where the caseload ranged from pediatric to geriatric patients. She continued her career at the Hearing and Speech Center at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJ) in New Hyde Park, NY providing both clinical assessments and hearing aid dispensing, again, to a varied population. Upon leaving LIJ Dr. Rein took a position at A. Holly Patterson Geriatric Center in Uniondale, NY where she provided audiologic assessments and hearing aid fittings to a frail-elderly and dementia population for 7 years. She left A. Holly Patterson in 2000 for a position at Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, in New Hyde Park, NY, continuing to serve frail-elderly and dementia patients. She was promoted to Chief of Audiology in 2007 and worked there until 2014. During her time at A. Holly Patterson and Parker, Dr. Rein also worked for the Long Island Hearing Screening Program, a not for profit organization providing hearing screenings to pre-school age children. Dr. Rein has also worked as a Clinical Supervisor to Au.D. students at Hofstra University. She joined ENT and Allergy Associates in 2014.
Dr. Rein has many years of experience evaluating all age groups but has a special interest in the geriatric population. She specializes in fitting all technology levels of digital hearing aids. She is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. She is a NYS Licensed Audiologist and Hearing Aid Dispenser.
