Heather Jones, M.S., C.C.C. S.L.P
Heather Jones, M.S., C.C.C. S.L.P., received her Masters in Speech-Language Pathology from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Vocal Performance and Theatre, from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Hearing and Language Association and a New York State license. Heather is certified in Lee Silverman Voice Technique (LSVT) and Compton Accent reduction. She is a member of the Voice Foundation and the Actor’s Equity Association and has performed in a wide range of arenas; off-off Broadway, regional and summer stock theatre, cabaret, recitals, opera, oratorio and chamber chorus. Her clinical background as a Speech/Language pathologist coupled with her understanding of the vocal mechanism, from her own vocal study, intensifies her sensitivities to actors and singers needs.
Heather performs complete voice, speech, language, and dysphagia evaluations and treatments for both adults and children. Her experiences as a speech language pathologist thus far include hospitals, home care, and skilled nursing facilities and out patient clinic settings. She is competent in (MBSS) Modified Barium Swallow Studies and also specializes in stroke, TBI, dementia, and tracheostomized patients.
Recently she has been a guest lecturer at Northern Westchester BOCES on the topic, The Role of the Speech Language Pathologist. Heather is currently creating a series of presentations on strategies to improve the aging voice. She has provided practicum experiences for several undergraduate and master level speech pathologists. Her special interests and aptitude is for treating voice, language and swallowing disorders.
