Danielle N. Falciglia,Ph.D,CCC-SLP

Dr. Danielle Falciglia is licensed and board-certified speech and language pathologist who specializes in the evaluation and treatment of adult and pediatric voice, speech and swallowing disorders.  She is a member of the New Jersey Voice Center and the Voice and Swallowing Center, a division of ENT and Allergy Associates.

As a speech pathologist at the NYU Voice Center and Bellevue Hospital, Danielle Dr. Falciglia has experience in inpatient and outpatient evaluation and treatment of voice, speech and swallowing disorders related to professional voice use and singing, head and neck cancer, trauma, and neurologic conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Myasthenia Gravis.   She has been a guest lecturer in the NYU Master’s level swallowing physiology and disorders course, in addition to co-teaching the voice physiology and disorders Master’s level course at Northwestern University.  She is certified in Lee Silverman Voice Therapy for treatment of Parkinson’s Disease and other hypokinetic disorders, Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), and fitting/replacement of InHealth and Provox indwelling tracheoesophageal (TEP) voice prostheses.  She is a member of the Bellevue Interdisciplinary Parkinson’s Clinic, and NYU/Bellevue Interdisciplinary Head and Neck Tumor Board.  She is bilingual in English and Spanish, and beginner Greek.  She also maintains a private practice.

Dr. Falciglia’s research interests include vocal physiology and treatment of swallowing disorders of the head and neck following radiation.  She is a member of the Swallow Physiology Lab at NYU Medical Center, where current research is investigating the effectiveness of swallow therapy targeting the base of tongue following radiation to the neck.   She is also participating in a multi-center NIH-funded project investigating the effectiveness of therapeutic electrical stimulation of swallowing following radiation therapy to the head and neck.  She is an author of numerous research projects and articles which have been published in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks.  She has presented her research at local, regional, and national professional conferences and meetings. 

Dr. Falciglia obtained her Bachelor of Science in Human Communication Sciences, Master of Arts in Speech Pathology with Neurogenics specialty, and doctoral degree in Speech Pathology from Northwestern University.  She received a National Institutes of Health predoctoral fellowship grant to pursue her doctoral dissertation, which investigated the regulation of hydration at the cellular level in vocal fold epithelial tissue.  She is a member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association in addition to the Voice Special Interest Division of the Association.
