Astara N. Crews, MJ, CHC, CPC has extensive experience in regulatory compliance, revenue cycle management and documentation coding, with an extremely successful track record of creating efficient and comprehensive plans involving management of Electronic Medical Record implementation and private practice work flows. She has been responsible for implementing Federal and Local regulation compliant initiatives in multiple healthcare settings.
Ms. Crews received her Bachelors of Science in Anthropology, Biology, and Chemistry (Pre-Medicine) from Lehman College before earning her Masters of Jurisprudence (MJ) in Health Law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She began her 15 year career as a Revenue Cycle Manager, then spent a decade working at a number of top hospitals in increasingly senior compliance roles.
Astara holds a CPC Certification from the American Association of Professional Coders, a CHC Certification from the HealthCare Compliance Association, and is currently working towards her CCS Certification from the American Health Information Management Association. She is knowledgeable in areas of regulatory law, including the Affordable Care Act, Anti-Kickback statutes, Fraud and Abuse laws, JACHO, HITECH, HIPAA, OSHA, and is trained in ICD-10 CM/PCS coding.Back to Senior Managers
