ENT and Allergy Associates® Appoints New Director of Regulatory Affairs
Welcomes Astara Crews to its Senior Management Team
(Tarrytown, NY) February 7th, 2014– Managing a practice the size and scope of ENT and Allergy Associates, LLP (ENTA), whose 150 ear, nose, throat and allergy physicians serve patients in 40 locations throughout NY and NJ, takes a full senior team, which oversees areas ranging from operations to IT, to billing and marketing.
With this in mind, ENTA is proud to announce the hiring of a new Director of Regulatory Affairs, Astara Crews. Ms. Crews comes on board effective February 17th, 2014.
At ENTA, the Department of Regulatory Affairs creates, reviews, implements and oversees the plans that ensure medical and regulatory compliance, protects patient health information, and adheres to all laws relating to HIPAA. Among her key focuses, Ms. Crews will be tasked with developing rigorous educational tools, as well as constructing and leading seminars for the Practice’s physicians and staff. Further, and in conjunction with ENTA’s physicians, she will craft clinical guidelines and documentation standards to insure first rate patient care.
Astara N. She has been responsible for implementing Federal and Local regulation compliant initiatives in multiple healthcare settings
Ms. Crews received her Bachelors of Science in Anthropology, Biology, and Chemistry (Pre-Medicine) from Lehman College before earning her Masters of Jurisprudence (MJ) in Health Law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She began her 15 year career as a Revenue Cycle Manager, then spent a decade working at a number of top hospitals in increasingly senior compliance roles.
Astara holds a CPC Certification from the American Association of Professional Coders, a CHC Certification from the HealthCare Compliance Association, and is currently working towards her CCS Certification from the American Health Information Management Association. She is knowledgeable in areas of regulatory law, including the Affordable Care Act, Anti-Kickback statutes, Fraud and Abuse laws, JACHO, HITECH, HIPAA, OSHA, and is trained in ICD-10 CM/PCS coding.
Wayne Eisman, MD, President of ENTA, commented, “Filling the Director of Regulatory Affairs position was a top priority for us, and therefore a task we handled with the utmost care and scrutiny. Ms. Crews’ impressive educational background, paired with her extensive experience at top healthcare institutions, made her our clear choice.” He continued, “Our patients’ best interests are clearly always in mind when hiring for our Practice—whether a physician or manager—and Astara has the credentials and professional track record we wanted, and needed.
