Westchester Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America Honors Robert Glazer, CEO of ENT and Allergy Associates® LLP, as 2014 Health Hero of the Year

Award event kicks off the 9th annual Westchester/Rockland Walk4Hearing

Westchester & Rockland Counties, NY – (March 31st, 2014) – Robert Glazer is many things to many people.  To the 150 physicians and 800+ employees of ENT and Allergy Associates, whose 41 offices serve patients throughout New York and New Jersey, he is CEO.  To the students and faculty of Pace University’s Graduate Program for Public Administration - Health Policy, he is an adjunct professor.  To the Westchester County Association, he is a board member.

And, thanks to the Westchester Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA), he is also a hero.

The HLAA, known as the voice for people with hearing loss, recently announced that it will honor Mr. Glazer as its 2014 Health Hero of the Year at its invitation-only kickoff event on Sunday, April 6th.  That occasion serves as the kickoff for the organization’s 9th annual Westchester/Rockland Walk4Hearing; a 5K event that will be held on May 17th at FDR State Park in Yorktown Heights, NY.

In addition to Mr. Glazer, special guests at the kickoff will include emcee Otis Livingston, WCBS-TV sports anchor, and Jacob Landis of “Jacob’s Ride”.  In 2013, Landis, a college student and cochlear implant recipient, received national attention when he rode his bicycle more than 10,000 miles across the U.S., stopping at all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums, to raise funds for pediatric cochlear implants.

“Our Westchester Chapter is delighted to recognize Robert Glazer as this year’s Health Hero,” noted co-chair David Goldwasser. “His work and the work of his Practice’s otologists, neuotologists, otolaryngologists and audiologists on behalf of hearing health stands as an inspiration for all for our medical and local communities, and Bob serves as a true role model.”

Glazer, with over 35 years of healthcare administrative experience in finance and operations, information technology and healthcare marketing, joined ENT and Allergy Associates in December, 1997 when it consisted of only eight clinical sites and 12 physicians.  During his 17 year tenure, it has grown dramatically to over 40 offices and over 150 clinicians, including 7 locations and 29 physicians in Westchester County. As CEO, Glazer is responsible for the overall operation of the practice, focusing attention on physician recruitment, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic planning of the organization.

“I feel privileged and extremely proud to receive this honor from such an important organization,” Glazer said. “The Hearing Loss Association of America, and particularly our local Westchester chapter, does so much to help raise awareness of hearing loss and the resultant issues that thousands of our neighbors with hearing impairments have to deal with each day.”

Added Dr. Richard A. Rosenberg, neurotologist at ENTA’s White Plains office, “As a sub-specialist heavily invested in improving the hearing health of my patients, I am particularly appreciative of the positive contribution Bob Glazer has made.”  He continued “For example, ensuring that physicians in each of our offices are teamed with licensed audiologists has created a clinical asset well-suited to the diagnosis and treatment of hearing issues of all kinds.”

“Thanks to our CEO, audiologists at ENT and Allergy Associates are able to fully contribute to our patients’ well-being”, noted Marisa Thylstrup, Au.D., F-AAA, audiologist at ENTA’s Yorktown office.  “Our voice is heard, our expertise is recognized, and our patients benefit.”

The Westchester/Rockland Walk4Hearing, scheduled for May 17th at FDR State Park in Yorktown Heights, NY, is one of 22 coordinated walks around the country sponsored by the HLAA. The 5K Walk4Hearing, which begins at 11 a.m., supports Jacob's Ride and other programs and services that raise awareness and support for the 48 million Americans with hearing loss.

“We are so excited for our upcoming Walk4Hearing and anticipate it to be our most successful walk yet,” stated co-chair Steve Wolfert. “We appreciate the continued support of our volunteers, sponsors and donors for all they have done for our cause.”

Registration is available online at www.walk4hearing.org. To volunteer, contribute, or find out more about sponsorships, please contact co-chair Steve Wolfert at 914-960-4692 or swolfert@optonline.net.  Current sponsors include Phonak Hearing Systems and Oticon.
