The Tri-state Area’s Most Comprehensive Ear, Nose and Throat Practice
Opens a State-of-the-Art Clinical Location in Astoria
Tarrytown, NY. –May 7th, 2013- ENT and Allergy Associates (ENTA) recognizes the enormous growth in populations throughout the various neighborhoods and communities in which it delivers superior medical care, by either expanding/upgrading its current offices, or merging with smaller existing practices to create state-of-the-art clinical sites, or opening brand new offices of its own. In this way, its physicians—who now number nearly 140 otolaryngologists, allergists, laryngologists, otologists/neurotologists, rhinologists, sleep specialists and facial plastics surgeons—can continue to properly serve the needs of all deserving adult and pediatric patients.
With exactly that in mind, today ENTA proudly announced that it is significantly expanding its commitment to the people of Queens, NY and opening a new, full service, leading-edge clinical facility in Astoria. The site is expected to begin operations in the late summer of 2013.
Like the 38 offices of ENTA currently serving neighborhoods throughout NY and NJ, the new Astoria location will offer adults and pediatric patients a comprehensive multi-disciplinary approach featuring specialists and sub-specialists treating the areas of Sinus, Throat, Allergy, Otology, Rhinology, Audiology, and Head and Neck Surgery. Board-certified physicians will practice side-by-side with licensed audiologists who dispense hearing aids.
This new office will serve both Astoria and nearby Long Island City, two of the fastest growing areas in New York City, and neighborhoods that have seen significant growth among both their commercial and residential populations, with many businesses moving in as well as young people and their growing families.
ENTA is investing in a 10-year lease at 31-19 Newtown Ave, 2nd floor, Astoria, NY 11102. This 3,600 sq. ft. medical office consists of four brand-new ENT Exam Rooms, two Allergy Rooms, an Audiology Booth and a Hearing Aid Dispensing room. Astoria is the Practice’s second Queens site, following on the heels of ENTA’s recent expansion in Bayside, NY (4600 sq. feet at 210-33 26th Avenue, Bayside, NY 11360).
New York is a melting pot of cultural influences, and Astoria—historically the center of New York’s Greek population—is now attracting many of Eastern European descent as well. In order to best serve the community’s specifics, ENTA’s office there will include Dr. George Poulos, whose family is itself of Greek heritage. In addition, and to best serve the pediatric demographics of the area, Dr. Tamekia Wakefield—the only fellowship-trained pediatric otolaryngologist in Queens County—will also serve patients from that office. Audiologist Kerri O’Connor, Au.D. will also work out of the new Astoria office.
"Our passion for serving the general as well as the specific healthcare needs of local communities is what we are all about” noted ENTA CEO Robert Glazer, “and expanding into a second Queens location, with this roster of superb physicians, is the perfect opportunity to further do so”.
“This new facility is yet another example of ENTA’s singular focus on the quality of our patients’ doctor visit experience.” added Wayne Eisman, MD, President of ENT and Allergy, “Among other things, our new Astoria space will deliver high levels of comfort, convenience, and leading edge technology”.
Commented Dr. George Poulos, who is fluent in Greek, “I became a doctor to help people, and my opportunity to serve the population of Astoria is an absolutely perfect fit”.
“I live right in Long Island City”, added Dr. Tamekia Wakefield, “so serving the children of Astoria means helping neighbors. This is my neighborhood!”
Astoria is served by the E M R New York City Subway trains that stop at Steinway Street and 46th Street stations on the underground IND Queens Boulevard Line as well as the N Q trains which run along the elevated BMT Astoria Line above 31st Street.
