About Pavlina Suchanova, MD
Dr. Pavlina Suchanova believes that being a successful physician is a calling, not just a profession.
She is a strong communicator and easily connects with children and adults of all ages, aiming to treat the entire family across a full spectrum of ENT conditions.
Her excellent training and commitment to continued learning enable her to treat patients using the latest techniques and treatment protocols available. Dr. Suchanova is one of only two physicians in the Greater Houston area designated as a Center of Excellence in treating nasal obstruction with the in-office VIVIAER procedure. She also treats allergy-related congestion, drainage, and throat clearing with the in-office RHINAER procedure. In addition, she manages chronic sinusitis with in-office balloon sinuplasty and treats nasal polyps with in-office placement of PROPEL stents.
Dr. Suchanova is also passionate about patient education, and her patients benefit from her clear, detailed explanations of clinical conditions and treatment options.
Dr. Pavlina Suchanova was born in the Czech Republic, the proud daughter of a classical pianist mother and a civic engineer father. Following in her mother’s footsteps, she initially studied classical piano, but always knew she wanted to pursue medicine. Facing limited educational opportunities in her home country, she immigrated to the United States as a teenager, learned English, and was accepted to Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where she earned a BA in Anthropology and Art History.
She continued her education at the University of Michigan Medical School, where she received several commendations for communication skills, bedside manner, and the Art of Medicine Award.
Dr. Suchanova completed her Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where she proudly received the Otolaryngology Resident Teaching Award.
She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. She served as President of the Harris County Medical Society Western Branch in 2024–2025 and is a member of the American Rhinologic Society.
Dr. Suchanova continues to mentor pre-medical and medical students in the Greater Houston area.
Outside of medicine, she enjoys staying active through swimming and weight lifting, cooking cuisines from around the world, volunteering in her community, and exploring Houston’s vibrant art and music scene. She is fluent in English, Czech, and Slovak, and is conversational in Spanish.
