ENT and Allergy Associates® Arrives in Monmouth County, NJ Nation’s Premier Ear, Nose, Throat, and Allergy Practice Welcomes Central Jersey Otolaryngology to the Team, Opens 41st Office
Tarrytown, New York- February 11th, 2014: For patients in Shrewsbury, New Jersey and throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties, 2014 is starting off on a very healthy note.
That’s because ENT and Allergy Associates, LLP (ENTA), whose 150+ otolaryngologists, laryngologists, neurotologists, rhinologists, sleep specialists, allergists, and audiologists in 40 offices already serving communities in 9 New Jersey locations, announced today that it is adding the four fine physicians and facilities of Central Jersey Otolaryngology to its practice.
Effective September 1st, 2014, the current Central Jersey Otolaryngology office, located at 1131 Broad Street in Shrewsbury, NJ, will become ENTA’s 41st clinical site.
This joinder will allow Monmouth and Ocean County patients to benefit from an enhanced clinical location and the more comprehensive complement of services that ENTA offers all of its patients, including General Adult and Pediatric ENT, Voice and Swallowing, Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery, Disorders of the Inner Ear and Dizziness, Asthma, Clinical Immunology, Diagnostic Audiology, Hearing Aid dispensing, Sleep, and CT Services. In addition to the four new ENTs, ENTA expects to add an Allergy/Immunology physician to this clinical location and plans to bring on an otolaryngology associate-offering Adult and Pediatric ENT care-in the near future.

Joining ENTA as full partners are Vin Prabhat, MD, FACS, Darsit Shah, MD, Michael Tavill, MD, FACS, and Philip Passalaqua, MD. Each of these highly trained physicians are board-certified in Otolaryngology and skilled in all aspects of ENT including Otology, Head and Neck Surgery, Sinus Surgery, Pediatric Otolaryngology, Laryngology, and Sleep Medicine.

Vin Prabhat, MD, FACS received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and with Phi Beta Kappa honors. He then graduated medical school at Cornell University Medical College in New York City with honors in Otolaryngology and also received the prestigious James A. Moore prize in otology. Dr. Prabhat subsequently completed internship and residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City and became board-certified in Otolaryngology / Head & Neck Surgery in 1998. He then completed a fellowship in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery through Emory University in Atlanta in 1999 and became board-certified in Facial Plastic Surgery in 2000. He is currently serving as the Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology at Monmouth Medical Center and is the Co-Director of the Head and Neck Cancer Center. Dr. Prabhat has been the recipient of numerous honors—including being honored multiple times as one of “NJ’s Top Docs”—as well as one of "America’s Top Surgeons" and "America’s Top Physicians". His work has been favorably chronicled in many major newspaper and magazine articles. Dr. Prabhat's interests include the surgical management of thyroid and parathyroid disease, head and neck oncology, advanced sinus surgery including balloon sinuplasty, rhinoplasty, and pediatric surgery.
Darsit Shah, MD has been an associate at Central Jersey Otolaryngology since 1999. Prior to his training, Dr. Shah completed the prestigious Six Year Accelerated Medical Program graduating Suma Cum Laude at Hahnemann University Medical School. He did his residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center with particular emphasis in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery. He then completed a subspecialty fellowship at the Michigan Ear Institute in Otology and Neuro-Otology. Previously, he was in practice in New York with staff and academic affiliations with Mt. Sinai Medical Center from 1996-1999. He has been board-certified in Otolaryngology / Head & Neck Surgery since 1997. He has authored a number of peer-reviewed publications and continues to be active in research and teaching. Dr. Shah is an assistant clinical Professor at Drexel University Medical School. He is the Co-Director of the Head and Neck Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center. He also formerly served as the Chief of the Department of Otolaryngology at Monmouth Medical Center. His special area of interests includes Head and Neck Oncology, Thyroid and Parathyroid disease management, and the treatment of acute and chronic ear disease. Dr. Shah has been recognized for excellence in medicine by New Jersey Top Docs (2007-2013), Metro NY (2011-2013), New Jersey Top Cancer Doctors (2012-2013), and local and national news publications.
Michael Tavill, MD, FACS received his undergraduate degree in biology from Washington University, St. Louis in 1986. He then went on to Case Western Reserve University Medical School, graduating in 1991. His achievements include an election to Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and the Memorial Award in Otolaryngology. An Internship and Residency in Otorhinolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery were completed at The Hospitals of The University of Pennsylvania in 1996 followed by a Fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in 1997. He is board-certified in Pediatric and Adult Otolaryngology and now serves as Chief of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Monmouth Medical Center. He has teaching responsibilities in the Departments of Pediatrics and Surgery along with an appointment as assistant clinical Professor at Drexel University Medical School. Dr. Tavill is a frequent speaker at both community and medical meetings. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Society for Ear, Nose, and Throat Advances in Children, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Tavill was singled out as the only pediatric otolaryngologist to make the list of New Jersey's Top Docs 2006.
Philip Passalaqua, MD is a board-certified Otolaryngologist / Head and Neck surgeon. His clinical practice includes both pediatric and adult Ear, Nose, and Throat disorders. The scope of his practice includes medical and surgical management of sinusitis, thyroid and salivary gland surgery, sleep apnea, ear infections, head and neck cancer, and voice disorders. His hospital affiliations include Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank—where he is the currently the Chief of the Section of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery –and Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. He is the current chairman of the department of Otolaryngology at Riverview Medical Center. Dr. Passalaqua performed his residency training in Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY. In addition, he completed a yearlong Fellowship in Laryngology and voice disorders at Mount Sinai. Dr. Passalaqua received his medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1995. His undergraduate degree was earned at Wesleyan University in Connecticut.
