ENT and Allergy Associates®, LLP Greatly Enhances its Presence on Long Island

Brings its Brand of Superior Medical Care to Port Jefferson and Patchogue, Welcomes Seven New Partners to the Practice

Tarrytown, NY –February 4th, 2013, ENT and Allergy Associates, LLP (ENTA) continues to grow in Long Island by leaps and bounds. More importantly, so does its corresponding ability to comprehensively serve the healthcare needs of a deserving Nassau/Suffolk patient population that continues to grow as well.

Today, in a blockbuster merger that will literally reshape the ear, nose, throat, allergy and audiology medical landscape on Long Island, ENTA announced that it has added the seven superb physicians, and the Port Jefferson and Patchogue offices, of Otolaryngology Associates of Long Island to its current roster of 36 clinical locations and 130+ physicians throughout New York and New Jersey. The merger is expected to be effective as of June 1st, 2013.

Joining ENTA as full partners are Richard S. Litman, MD (current physician president of Otolaryngology Associates of Long Island), William H. Sher, MD, Lee M. Shangold, MD, John P. Sugrue, MD, Ajay E. Chitkara, MD, and Craig Litman, MD. Lauren S. Zaretsky, MD comes on board as an associate partner. Each of these well-trained physicians is Board Certified in Otolaryngology and skilled in all aspects of ENT including Otology, Head and Neck surgery, Sinus Surgery, Pediatric Otolaryngology, Laryngology, and Sleep Medicine. All of these physicians are and will continue to be affiliated with the Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center.

Dr. Richard Litman has been recognized every year since 1996 in the Castle Connolly Guide to Best Doctors in New York.  Dr. Craig Litman received the Patient’s Choice Award in 2012. In addition, Dr. Lee Shangold is Board Certified in Sleep Medicine, and Dr. Ajay Chitkara is fellowship-trained in Laryngology.

As a result of this joinder, the existing offices of this well-established private practice—which has been serving patients on the North and South Shores of Long Island for over 30 years—will become ENTA’s 37th and 38th locations. Those offices, situated  at 251 East Oakland Avenue, Port Jefferson, NY and 475 East Main Street, Patchogue, NY—will complement ENTA’s current Long Island clinical sites;  in Nassau County’s Garden City and Lake Success as well as Suffolk County’s Riverhead, Southampton and East Hampton.

To ensure that the entire needs of patients in surrounding communities are met, ENTA plans to further staff these offices with an additional otolaryngology associate, as well as a board-certified Allergist—offering Adult and Pediatric Allergy care, and a licensed Audiologist—offering complete hearing services and dispensing hearing aids.

“Our number one focus has always been the care of our patients and their families”, commented Richard S. Litman, MD, “so when my colleagues and I were presented with the opportunity to become a significant part of ENT and Allergy Associates, with their array of clinical and technological breadth, depth, and expertise, we recognized that this would ins ure to our patients’ benefit since ENT and Allergy Associates is well respected and well known throughout the New York/ New Jersey area. We are very much looking forward to continuing our tradition of offering our patients in Eastern Long Island the best ENT care available for the future with this merger.”

“My partners and I are completely delighted to welcome Richard and his Partners into our family”, noted ENT and Allergy Associates President Wayne Eisman, MD. “It is gratifying indeed to be adding seven superb ENT physicians; each one gifted with superior skills and the highest academic training. They, like all of our clinicians, will absolutely provide the highest level of patient care…and nothing is more important to us.”

Added Robert Glazer, CEO of ENTA, “Our overall Practice strategy of carefully and selectively adding medical sites and expertise continues to bear fruit and benefit more and more communities. We began serving the patient population of Nassau and Suffolk a couple of years ago with mergers and subsequent expansions/renovations in Garden City and Lake Success, then did the same in Riverhead and the Hamptons. Now, bringing the seven physicians and two locations of Otolaryngology Associates of Long Island on board is a powerful next step. We are extremely pleased.”
