ENT and Allergy Associates®, LLP Further Bolsters
Its Ear and Dizziness Sub-Division
Welcomes Fellowship-Trained Otologist George A. Poulos, D.O.

Tarrytown, NY –December 10th, 2012. ENT and Allergy Associates (ENTA), the only ear, nose, throat, allergy and audiology practice with sub-divisions populated by Laryngologists, Otologists/Neuro-otologists, Facial Plastics surgeons, Rhinologists, Pediatrics ENTs Head and Neck and Sleep Specialists, today announced that fellowship-trained Otologist Dr. George A. Poulos, D.O. will join its practice in two locations-Astoria and Wall Street, NY-starting August 1st, 2013.

The addition of Dr. Poulos to its ranks means that ENTA will consist of over 130 superb physicians in 36 office locations throughout New York and New Jersey.

Dr. Poulos graduated with a Bachelors degree in Biochemistry from New York University in Manhattan and subsequently received his Doctor of Osteopathy from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY. He then completed both his internship in General Surgery and Otolaryngology / Facial Plastic Surgery residency at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey -School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, NJ., During his residency, Dr. Poulos also received training in Head and Neck Cancer Surgery at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Following residency he sought further training solely in the field of Otology. He completed a one year fellowship training program in Otology and Neurotology at the Ear Research Foundation, Silverstein Institute in Sarasota, FL.

As a member of ENTA's Ear and Dizziness Centers, Dr. Poulos joins fellow Otologists Drs. Richard Rosenberg (White Plains), Won Choe (E 86th ST and Englewood, NJ), Tahl Colen (Fifth Ave, Somerville and Brooklyn), Michael Gordon (Garden City), and Rami Payman (Poughkeepsie). This sub-division treats tertiary care disorders affecting the ears, balance system, temporal bone, and related functions. Each member has expertise in the treatment of advanced hearing loss and tinnitus, vestibular nerve dysfunction, congenital malformations, infectious and inflammatory diseases of the ear, tumors of the ear, dizziness and vertigo.

What also stands out about ENTA's Ear and Dizziness subdivision is an extraordinary subspecialty focus on hearing health. To that end, the practice employs more than 75 licensed audiologists across 36 clinical office sites in New York and New Jersey. More specifically, the level of care offered requires a commitment and investment in diagnostic infrastructure, including but not limited to audiometric sound booths (47 throughout the Practice, some with specifically trained pediatric Audiologists), audiometry and tympanometry (with acoustic reflex testing) equipment,  DPOAE (12 frequency), ABR/EcochG services and ENG/VNG services in selected locations. Sound-treated audio booths are in every office, ranging in size up to 8.5 feet by 10.5 feet,  ensuring accurate and reliable testing from the pediatric (3 mos +) to the geriatric population. Equally as important, all of our state-of-the-art digital equipment is maintained and calibrated to meet American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards.

The Practice’s expansion into Astoria comes as the result of a comprehensive analysis ENT and Allergy Associates recently undertook to best understand the changing demographics in both Queens and Brooklyn (specifically for the Astoria and Long Island City zip codes and the Brooklyn Heights/Downtown Brooklyn development district). From that, the Practice developed clinical site business plans which best matched the needs of the patient populations found in those areas. Based on those results, in 2013 ENTA will be opening new full-service offices in Astoria as well as in Brooklyn.

In conjunction with these new office locations, the Practice is finalizing the recruitment of other top notch sub-specialists to join Dr. Poulos (an otologist/ear specialist as well as a general ENT), as well as Dr. Tamekia Wakefield (a fellowship trained Pediatric ENT currently practicing at ENTA’s Bayside location), Dr. Jennifer Lee (a fellowship trained allergist/immunologist) currently seeing patients in ENTA’s Bay Ridge location) and Bonnie Kupchik, M. A.,(Audiologist) and serve the needs of those communities. This multi- disciplinary approach is part of the ENTA model for delivering superior medical care across all of its offices, and also includes full service diagnostic hearing and audiology services. Each office will be staffed with a licensed audiologist as well.

In addition to serving those in Astoria, Dr. Poulos will also practice at ENTA's Wall Street office (150 Broadway, New York, NY 10038) where he will team up with a superb roster of physicians including otolaryngologists Anna Aronzon, MD, Sheldon Palgon, MD, Allergist/Immunologist Hale Yarmohammadi, MD and Audiologist Karen S. Bromberg, Au.D.

“By continuing to attract superior medical talent like Dr. George Poulos to our practice, we assure ourselves and our patients of the finest medical care possible”, said Wayne Eisman, MD, president of ENT and Allergy Associates. “Not only is Dr. Poulos an excellent physician, but by virtue of being an otologist, he also adds depth and breadth to one of our most vital sub-divisions, our Ear and Dizziness Centers".

Added Robert Glazer, CEO of ENTA, “ENT and Allergy Associates is truly looking forward to the arrival of Dr. Poulos. We are absolutely confident that his clinical skills and training will enhance our ability to offer the highest level of care to even more patients.”

Each ENT and Allergy Associates clinical location provides access to a full complement of services, including General Adult and Pediatric ENT, Voice and Swallowing, Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery, Disorders of the Inner Ear and Dizziness, Asthma, Clinical Immunology, Diagnostic Audiology, Hearing Aid dispensing, Sleep and CT Services. ENTA has a clinical alliance with The Mount Sinai Hospital for the treatment of diseases of the head and neck and esophageal cancer and a partnership with the American Cancer Society to educate and treat patients with smoking disorders and cancer. The Practice has also expanded its clinical capabilities to include advanced Immunodeficiency trials.
