Allergic rhinitis, or hay fever, is often seasonal, and many cases arise because of increased pollen levels. Your immune system is reacting to an allergen that you've come into contact with, such as pollen, pet dander, or dust, and your body releases histamines that can cause watery eyes, a runny nose, and/or a sore throat. For those that have nonallergic rhinitis, the symptoms can be similar to allergic rhinitis, but the immune system isn't involved. Airborne pollutants, certain foods, and other irritants can cause sneezing and postnasal drip. Our doctors will examine and diagnose your symptoms, and may run an allergy test to determine which form of rhinitis you're experiencing.
