About Eric Bergson, MD

Dr. Eric Bergson has been practicing Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery on Long Island for 18 years. After growing up in Suffolk County he went to Duke University for his undergraduate degree and then attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.  He did his internship in general surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and then residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine/ Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY.  During residency he had a specific focus on thyroid and parathyroid disorders and studied under some of the busiest endocrine surgeons in the country.

After completing residency in 2004 he came back to Suffolk County to begin practice.  Dr. Bergson’s practice focuses on head and neck surgery.  Specifically, he specializes in thyroid and parathyroid surgery, as well as surgery on the salivary glands, lymph nodes, and other masses, cysts and growths of the head and neck.  He cares for both cancerous and benign disorders.  He has published numerous articles on surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid glands.  Dr Bergson uses all of the most modern tools available during surgery; including intraoperative recurrent laryngeal nerve monitoring, intra operative parathyroid hormone measurement, and Fluobeam parathyroid autofluorescence scanning.

Dr. Bergson is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, The American College of Surgeons, and the American Academy Endocrine Surgeons.
