Sleeping well has numerous positive impacts on our physical, emotional, and social well-being. When we’re dealing with a sleep disorder that's preventing us from getting quality rest our bodies need, it can be frustrating and overwhelming. Fortunately, home sleep testing offers an accessible way to diagnose potential issues while providing peace of mind in the safety and comfort of your own home. By inviting you to take charge of your health journey, this easy-to-use test provides reliable data to inform diagnosis so our medical professionals can create better treatment plans more quickly.
Home Sleep testing is a viable diagnostic study done in your own bedroom that monitors your breathing, heart rate, blood oxygen level, and other information about your body while you are sleeping. Home sleep apnea testing is used to diagnose obstructive sleep apnea.
A physician may recommend home sleep apnea testing if:
- It is highly likely that you have moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea
- You have no significant medical conditions other than the suspected obstructive sleep apnea
You should not have a home sleep apnea test if:
- The physician suspects you may have another sleep disorder
- You have certain medical conditions including pulmonary diseases, neuromuscular diseases, or congestive heart failure.
