Blepharoplasty - (Eyelid surgery)

Your eyes are one of the first and most important things that people notice. Their power is enormous...they can make you look sad, tired or angry. Blepharoplasty is the surgical correction of aging eyelids to create a more youthful and alert appearance and may be performed to the upper as well as lower eyelids.

Surgery of the upper eyelids usually involves the removal of excess, sagging skin and bulging fat that may make you look tired. The incision is hidden in the upper eyelid crease. Many times, if your hanging skin is severe, this surgery may actually improve your field of vision. Surgery of the lower eyelids is performed by either an incision just below your eyelashes or through an incision in the inner surface of the eyelid. Through these incisions fat can be removed or repositioned. Fine sutures are then used on some of these incisions.

After surgery, you can expect mild discomfort and some usual postoperative bruising. Cold compresses are used and follow-up is made within one week.
