The Ears
Hearing loss affects one in ten North Americans. The unique domain of otolaryngologists is the treatment of ear disorders. They are trained in both the medical and surgical treatment of hearing, ear infections, earwax, balance disorders, ear noise (tinnitus), nerve pain, earaches, and facial and cranial nerve disorders. An otolaryngologist also manages congenital (birth) disorders of the outer and inner ear.
The Nose
About 40 million people develop chronic sinusitis and rhinosinusitis each year, making them some of the most common health complaints in America. Care of the nasal cavity, nosebleeds, and sinuses is one of the primary skills of otolaryngologists. Management of the nasal area includes allergies and sense of smell. Breathing through and the appearance of the nose are also part of otolaryngologists’ expertise. Postnasal drips can be treated under the care of an ENT doctor. Some headaches are related to sinus issues.
The Throat
Communicating (speech and singing) and eating a meal all involve this vital area. Also specific to otolaryngologists is expertise in managing diseases of the larynx (voice box) and the upper aero-digestive tract or esophagus, including voice and swallowing disorders.
The Head & Neck
This center of the body includes the important nerves that control sight, smell, hearing, and the face. In the head and neck area, otolaryngologists are trained to treat infectious diseases, both benign and malignant (cancerous) tumors, facial trauma, thyroids/parathyroids, and deformities of the face. They perform both cosmetic plastic and reconstructive surgery.

"It was my first time visit ENT Allergy. As a professional singer, I am grateful to Dr. Chandra Ivey’s care for my rescue with rehearsals coming up in few days. The Infection needed to be treated right away. Dr. Ivey is wonderful and caring! Timing is crucial for the pace of recovery. My cough was quite bad that the first cough medication didn’t help, so I had to call and see if I could communicate with my doctor for stronger cough control medication, but I had to go through a middle person first to describe my situation (I was not suppose to talk that much due to the sickness) and let the middle person to deliver my message, then I had to wait until next day afternoon to receive a phone call from 2nd person who is an associate to talk to me in order to deliver the message to my doctor for calling my pharmacy. "I've been coming here for 2 months to get allergy shots and the process has been great! They did 70 environmental allergy tests on me and then called me before scheduling me in for allergy shots. It's super easy to show up, get the shots, wait my 30 minutes, and make my appointment for next time. I got every 2-3 days for these shots, so I'm here a lot. The office is very clean and comfortable. The staff are all very nice and while you'd think getting stuck 4 times every two to three days might suck, this isn't bad at all!"
