Otolaryngologists are physicians trained in the medical and surgical management and treatment of patients with diseases and disorders of the ear, nose, throat (ENT), and related structures of the head and neck. Our ear nose and throat doctors can diagnose and manage diseases of the sinuses, larynx (voice box) oral cavity, and upper pharynx (mouth and throat), as well as structures of the neck and face. Otolaryngologists also diagnose, treat, and manage specialty-specific disorders and many advanced primary care problems in both children and adults.
At ENT & Allergy Associates, you are sure to find the right physician to help diagnose and treat your condition:
The Ears
Hearing loss affects one in ten North Americans. The unique domain of otolaryngologists is the treatment of ear disorders. They are trained in both the medical and surgical treatment of hearing, ear infections, earwax, balance disorders, ear noise (tinnitus), nerve pain, earaches, and facial and cranial nerve disorders. An otolaryngologist also manages congenital (birth) disorders of the outer and inner ear.
The Nose
About 40 million people develop chronic sinusitis and rhinosinusitis each year, making them some of the most common health complaints in America. Care of the nasal cavity, nosebleeds, and sinuses is one of the primary skills of otolaryngologists. Management of the nasal area includes allergies and sense of smell. Breathing through and the appearance of the nose are also part of otolaryngologists’ expertise. Postnasal drips can be treated under the care of an ENT doctor. Some headaches are related to sinus issues.
The Throat
Communicating (speech and singing) and eating a meal all involve this vital area. Also specific to otolaryngologists is expertise in managing diseases of the larynx (voice box) and the upper aero-digestive tract or esophagus, including voice and swallowing disorders.
The Head & Neck
This center of the body includes the important nerves that control sight, smell, hearing, and the face. In the head and neck area, otolaryngologists are trained to treat infectious diseases, both benign and malignant (cancerous) tumors, facial trauma, thyroids/parathyroids, and deformities of the face. They perform both cosmetic plastic and reconstructive surgery.

"Dr Edelman is a good doctor, who is very thorough. We discussed all of my symptoms before the exam, of which there were many. He found severe reflux changes of my larynx and inflammation of my vocal cords, due to prolonged acid reflux. He immediately started me on a strict diet regimen, proton pump inhibitors twice daily, in addition to a tablespoon of liquid antacid half hour before bed, and sleeping with a 6wedge to prevent lying flat. He made sure I understood the importance of following the detailed instructions and the follow-up visit in 8 weeks. I did/do, and I'm looking forward to seeing him again in a few weeks."

"Dr Galowitz is AMAZING! I went to her with a nut allergy and seasonal pollen allergies. I went to two other allergists before her and she was able to fix all my allergies. She ran some tests and found out that I am no longer allergic to most nuts. My other two doctors missed that. I can now eat peanuts and most tree nuts with no hesitation. She also recommended allergy shots for my seasonal allergies, which I was hesitant at first, but I’ve been on shots for two years now and haven’t looked back. For the remaining allergies I do have, they are extremely well managed by Dr. Galowitz’s care. My quality of life has significantly increased ever since I’ve seen Dr. Galowitz. I recommend everyone with allergies to go to her. Additionally, the nurses (especially Lisette and Nicky) are phenomenal. They are so fun to talk to and they ease all of my anxiety when I walk into the office. They are well trained and they know what to do. I do understand that sometimes the wait can be long and ..."
